Once units began to march through the underground, a second mini-map will open up, showing the positions of everything under the earth, and both an interface toggle and a hot key will make the main ground level view disappear in favor of the subterranean one.
"Underground" means that there's an entire subterranean map that exists in juxtaposition with the ground level map. We're not talking about a few burrowers that disappear with a graphic effect.
